NOAA has probably some issues

NOAA just sent following email,

We are currently experiencing issues with distribution of data to our website. We are working to resolve this issue and apologize for the delay in data distribution.

I know Cvetan uses HTTPS to get the GRIBs and from earlier outage that the game uses some other method. However, game wind appears very close to what Zezo is expecting from previous forecast.

The differences for the next 6 hour are so small that I don't think that VR has made an update yet.

NOAA definitely has issues, the 06 cycle folder doesn't even exist yet.

BooBill too fast for me...

Received 1212Z

The issues with sending data to our websites have been resolved. We are currently working through a backlog of data but there may be some data gaps between 0230Z and 930Z

We still in zezo with GFS file 00Z+ (it is currently 4 p.m. gmt).
It looks like the file update doesn't load even though it is available in VR (visible with dev tools).
Any information with the grib update ?
Thx

Looks like :-(

NOAA is stuck at +21 hours right now
Post by iconPost by MidnightFoiler | 2020-11-13 | 23:24:13
It's nearly the weekend and NOAA think they have resolved their issues :-P
Post by iconPost by BooBill | 2020-11-14 | 01:37:18
NOAA has said nothing. No email notifying users of a problem with the upload. Can confirm, it's NOAA, not something isolated with Zezo. Windy.com and my backup router also affected.

does not smell good ... is there a back up plan if they are off for the weekend then?

Post by iconPost by BooBill | 2020-11-14 | 02:03:53
They worked through the weekend the last time there was a problem. Until at least when they threw up their hands some time that Sunday and said they would resume work on Monday.

At least that time they acknowledged the problem and kept people informed though.

Edit: Latest from NOAA

We are experiencing issues sending data to NOMADS; however, all datasets are available at https://ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov/. Unfortunately, due to the length of the network trouble, NOMADS data will not be backfilled. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Does it means that the issue is still pending?
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2020-11-14 | 11:05:25
we only got 18 hours of 18z.

00 and 06 are fine so far

Many thanks. Cross fingers.

Hi Cvetan. The new t18z forecast is not loading in zezo. We are stuck with t12z+393h...
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2020-12-11 | 21:56:33
It's NOAA:

Starting ~18UTC we began experiencing issues disseminating model data from our supercomputer to our web services. Delays of up to 90 minutes should be expected, but all data should be backfilled. We continue to work to resolve the issue.

Any idea how VR's updated will operate? Do they still process it if it's 90 minutes late, or do they wait for the next one? I'm guessing this may result in VR and Zezo being out of sync a bit more than typical?
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2020-12-11 | 22:06:58
They will process it, possibly up to a time. My scripts will give up at 00:15 UTC for sure.
Post by iconPost by PML | 2020-12-11 | 22:01:29
Noted, thanks !

"Data dissemination to NOMADS/FTPPRD services has been stabilized and restored.

Data pushes have been disabled to our Para NOMADS website for the weekend and will be returned to service on Monday"

I think VR uses the "Para NOMADS" because it's still stuck at 12z.

Weather here is also stuck at 12z, which is a good thing.

hi cvetan

which means ? if you use more understandable words ?

does it means that winds are not gonna change on VR until monday ?
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2020-12-11 | 23:43:25
That means the router and game are using the same weather now.

And yes, it means that the forecast in use may not change for the next 48 hours. But you (and I) will have to check for differences every 6 hours to be sure.

week end might be a bit more calm then ;-)

even if a double check will be usefull.

thanx again

The Nomads site now has 18z data starting from f096. All the data up to f384 has been pushed, only the first four days (f000-f093) are missing.
I think that the next cycle will run normally.

The Para Nomads site says
"This server hosts only the parallel data associated with upcoming NCEP model upgrades. This server will host the data through https downloads and on occasion the NOMADS interface services."

Sorry, everybody get up tomorrow at 5am CET.

Edit: Correction. Today at 5am CET.

Look at ftp.ncep. or ftpprd.ncep. I think that's what they mean. nomads.ncep. might not get updated until Monday. Or it might.

Looks like the game wind matches the wind here quite nicely at this point. At least on my track.
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2020-12-12 | 10:30:59
Yes, both sites are running on schedule since 0Z this morning.
