Loaded my boat using credits, but now think I want the unlimited programation. Will I get my credits back if I pay cash for a full pack?

Not automatically. I think they'll do something for you eventually if you submit a help request, but I'm not sure what they'll do. If you hunt through the VR forums, I think I remember seeing something there about this a long time ago.

They might be able to refund your credits... if they can't, they'll probably tell you to tell them when you want the same options applied to a future race without cost, or something like that.

I do The same like you. I user my cards and buy a full pack after before starting. I open 1 ticket in VIP mode. I received an answer who ask me to send a proof of buying. I send a print screen of The VR email received confirm that I was buying The full pack. I received 3 others mails ask me a proof of buying. I send 3 emails with my proof. I open a new ticket, and received 2 days after The same email. I send a message with tweeter directly to VR. 24h later I received a new email with a credit on my account. These exchanges taken 14 days.

You also get back few more credits when not purchasing the full pack, so the break even point is not exactly clear.

Unlimited programs give you the freedom to do routing with turns and then reset them, but if you only use it for actual turns (and the race is not something like Caribbean 600) it's not that bad.
