He put me under pressure, I was ranked 288 and he 312... but he was better and quicker...

I checked twice yachts ahead mine... they passed that bloody flag!
CHUCHANGO28 was on my left ahead, larger than me definitely but he didn't run aground. I think he boldy luffed up and cheated the server with the bow orientation

However, I hit the arrival flag on the left, lost 300 positions and... Cvetan beats me!

It seems that the games uses vector charts for collision detection this time and if your course line passwes some land so will your boat. But the bow direction does not always match the proper heading. I can think of two cases -

First I'm not sure that the boat shape is subject to proper Mercator projection. It was not during the last leg, but it seems that they fixed it.

Second, boat orientation does not synchronize between two clients. So if you make a change on one pc, and then check it on another without reloading the client, th boat is turned in the old local direction. It turns itself when you click the helm wheel icon.

I have seen that many times. I will make an adjustment, a large adjustment from my laptop at work and when I return home the boat is at an unusual angle.
I checked my direction after my last tack and looked far enough ahead that I was going to miss the sea wall by just enough room with the direction I chose to run. But I had to modify that angle (by only one degree mind you) as I got closer or I would have followed pgfiore into the wall. I didn't the distances were that great for that type of inaccuracy to happen. Oh well, another race is over and more education is the result.
